- The liquid separator is a temporary storage container for the mixture of refrigerant and refrigerating oil and is designed to suck the mixture into the compressor at a certain ratio.
- Therefore, damage to the compressor components, such as the needle valve, piston, piston rod, and crank shaft, is prevented.
- The liquid separator varies somewhat depending on the system, but is selected to have an appropriate storage capacity of at least 50% of the charge. The flow rate of the refrigerant gas flowing through the internal pipe of the liquid separator is approximately 8 to 12 m/s, and if the flow rate decreases, it is difficult to guarantee the recovery of refrigerating oil to the compressor.
The liquid separator should be piped vertically and installed as close to the compressor as possible and at the same height as the compressor.
