Calculation of rated capacity of capacitors operating under AVAC load
1. Measure the total voltage between HERM and Common terminal (ie 292.9 AC).
2. Next, measure the amperage of the wire from the HERM to the start of the compressor (ie 7.8A).
3. Find the capacity of the capacitor using the equation below.
Capacitors with too large or too small capacity will unbalance the ompressor's magnetic field.
Noise operation, increased power consumption, poor performance of the compressor, eventually overheating the compressor and causing overload.
