(* A refrigerant can be defined as any solid, liquid, vapor that acts as a cooling agent by absorbing heat from another body or substance. )

@ It is Chlorine in the CFC molecule that bonds with oxygen in the stratosphere forming Chlorine monoxide, which is very stable and will not break down for long periods of time.

CFC is not water soluble and do not wash out of stratosphere with rain.

It is the ozone layer that protects the earth from the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Because HCFC'S do contain chlorine, they stil. damage the ozone layer if they reach it. However, because of the hydrogen bonds, this molecules are much less stable and have shorter lives.

Hydrocarbons: HC's.

Hydrocarbon (* HC ) refrigerants are often referred to as natural refrigerants because they occur naturally in nature. Because Hydrocarbon are a natural refrigerant, they do not have to be recovered when servicing a refrigeration or air conditioning system.

(* ASHRAE A3 group. )

Hydrocarbons are not approved for retrofit appliacation.

It is responsibility of the service technicians to stay updated with local, national, global regulations and laws that governs HC.

It is recommended that all service technicians get special training before working with HC refrigerant.
